Napkleen Receives Two U.S. Patents for Dignified, Disposable Clothing Protection

New sanitary product revolutionizes medical, food service, infant and toddler care industries; presents many practical applications for everyday cleanliness

BOCA RATON, FL (May 08, 2008) – Napkleen, a developer of disposable clothing protectors, recently announced it has received two U.S. patents for its revolutionary product. The super-absorbent, leak-proof product is a stick on disposable bib and is placed on the shirt as a unique and dignified way to protect clothing from spills.

A cost-effective alternative to napkins or bibs, Napkleen's disposable product has an adhesive backing that adheres to any type of cloth without damaging the clothing. The soft, waterproof, super-absorbent material, which includes a fold-out crumb-catcher, covers the wearer's chest and stays in place without strings or ties. Napkleen is offered in a 13” by 16” adult size, a 10” by 10” child size as well as an 8” x 10” infant/toddler size.

“There are so many practical applications for the product,” said Gary Shar, VP of Marketing & Brand Management for Napkleen. “Napkleen has already found a home in medical institutions across the country, as well as in nursing homes and extended and long-term care facilities. We're also starting to find a niche in the food service industry, where Napkleen replaces bibs and napkins.”

The front surface of Napkleen can also act as a billboard for a company's logo and branding, supporting print of up to 6 colors of food safe ink.

The idea for Napkleen came when co-developer Mike Chasan was on his way to an important meeting.

“While I was driving, I spilled coffee on my shirt,” recalled Chasan. “I had to buy a new shirt. It was then I realized there really wasn't any practical – yet comfortable – way to protect my clothing. How many of us eat fast food in the car or soil our clothing at a restaurant? I knew there had to be a better solution.”

Shar also believes dignifying clothing protection in healthcare and long-term care is a major benefit of Napkleen.

“When it comes to the medical applications, it's all about maintaining the dignity and respect of the patient while protecting his or her clothing,” said Shar. “We're talking about a comfortable, easy to use, cost-effective alternative to terry cloth bibs, which are demeaning to the patient, uncomfortable and costly.”
